~Chicken Soup for the Soul My Dog's Life~

It's a dog's life. This collection of 101 new stories focuses on all the memorable ages and stages of our lovable canines' lives. Starting in puppyhood and covering a range of middle and senior years to the twilight and end when our dear friends leave us, this book captures the entire experience of living through the natural life cycle with our dogs. All dog lovers will laugh, cry, and recognize themselves and their furry friends in these heartwarming and inspiring stories of puppy antics, teenage rebellion, adapting to an aging dog and, finally, having to say goodbye.

We all know that a dog will be loyal to you~no matter what. And~this book really shows you what a difference a dog has made it other people's lives. As I was reading thru the book,I really could relate to many of the stories. As there is nothing like coming home and see that tail wagging and knowing that little creature loves you with everything that they have. Dogs are great companions and so much company. It is hard when they get sick~older or something happens.
As you sure do miss them when they go away. I remember years ago when I was a young girl and my dog got out of the backyard and we couldn't find him for over a month. And~one day I saw him laying on the new freeway that they had just built. It was so hard and I cried for a long time. I wish I would have had this book years ago~as these stories would have really helped with the grief. As after reading it~you just feel better..No matter if you are a animal lover or not I know that you will enjoy this book! You can read all about and purchase it  here.

Yael Naim She Was A Boy CD Review!

Yael Naim has just released her second album!

~She Was a Boy~
Yael Naim is the first Israeli solo artist to have a Top 10 hit in the U.S with her 2008 single “New Soul” which garnered nearly 1.5 million downloads in the U.S for its placement in Apple’s campaign for their Macbook Air computer. She appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” CBS’s “The Early Show” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” with the success of her last album. She Was a Boy has already surpassed Gold status in France, and Naim has been awarded the “Victoire de la Musique” {France’s Grammy equivalent} for Best Female Singer, which she previously won for World Music Album of the Year in 2008.

I had heard of Yael Naim before but I had never listened to her music. So~I wasn't sure what to expect when I put this in the CD player. I was very pleasantly surprised by this CD. As it has a jazz~folk feel to it. Her voice is amazing and you can tell that she put a lot of soul into the songs. I listened to it from start to finish and I will be listening to it over and over again. As it is one that you will find yourself tapping your foot and singing along! Her voice is smokey~sultry and sexy.
Entertainment Weekly notes that the new release exudes “…sprightly Joni Mitchell-goes-Dixieland charm,” while MTV Hive praises her “knack for fun, whimsical pop songs.”

This new album, made with collaborator and percussionist David Donatien, also features celebrated musicians such as French jazz trumpeters Lionel and Stephane Belmondo, cellist Yoed Nir (Interpol, Regina Spektor and Rufus Wainwright), classical musician Thomas Bloch (Radiohead, John Cage, Damon Albarn/Gorillaz) and the French artist Tété

The Track Listing~
  1. Come Home
  2. My Dreams
  3. She Was a Boy
  4. Go to the River
  5. Never Change
  6. I Try Hard
  7. Today
  8. Mystical Love
  9. Man of Another Woman
10. Puppet
11. Stupid Goal
12. If I Lost the Best Thing
13. Game is Over

Sue Ellen's Girl Ain't Fat, She Just Weighs Heavy Blog Tour!

Guided by principles from the ancient Belle Doctrine, the host of radio and television's All Things Southern offers down-home advice on everything from health and fitness-managing thy caloric calculations without going Straight Running Crazy and surviving the Raging Inferno Syndrome (aka hot flashes)-to the Southern art of handling your man (Bubba Whispering). Whether giving business tips or debunking the Big Boned Theory, making political observations or celebrating the inevitable resurgence of big hair, Shellie is an adviser women can relate to and laugh with regardless of their age or which side of the Mason-Dixon they call home.
Once I started reading this book~I couldn't put it down.It was just what I needed with the dreary weather that we have been having. When I was reading~I was laughing so hard as she sure has a way with words. Being a northern girl~it was fun to read how much different the southern girls are then the northern girls~of course we are the same we just have different ways of expressing our concerns. Here are two of my favorites~
"Southern Men Don't Wannna Have To Shake The Sheets To Find Their Women!
"Bo-Dollars~A Expression Southerners use when they're talking about serious money exchanging hands!

And one thing I remember that made me really laugh is~Never send your man to Walmart to get you the "un~unmentionable's"  as you never know when something might happen and you will have to go to the hospital. Think of what everyone would say when they saw you laying there in those "Granny Panties" that are not only your style but they are so big they reach up to your bra~doubling as Spandex!!

About Shellie~

Shellie Rushing Tomlinson and her husband Phil live and farm in the Louisiana Delta. Shellie is the author of Lessons Learned on Bull Run Road, Twas the Night Before the Very First Christmas, Southern Comfort with Shellie Rushing Tomlinson, and the Penguin Group USA release, Suck Your Stomach In and Put Some Color On, voted Nonfiction Finalist of 2009 by SIBA Independent Booksellers Alliance.

Tomlinson is owner and publisher of All Things Southern and the host of the weekly radio show All Things Southern as well as a weekly video segment by the same name. Listeners also hear Shellie in her All Things Southern radio segments aired across the South. Shellie writes a weekly inspirational feature in Newsstar and a monthly print and online column for Lousiana Road Trips.

When Shellie isn't writing, speaking, taping her show, answering email or writing content for the next deadline, you can find her playing tennis with Dixie Belle, (the chocolate lab who thinks she is in charge of running Shellie's life).

You can get a copy of this great book here!

To celebrate the Sue Ellen’s release, Shellie is having a Facebook Party!
Join Shellie and the gang on June 2nd at 5:00 PM PST (6 MST, 7 CST, 8 EST) for a Southern style shin-dig! She'll be dishing on Bubba Whispering, debunking the Big Boned Theory, and how to manage going Straight Running Crazy. If you don't know what any of that is, then be sure to pick up a copy of the book (Not necessary to join the fun! Who knows - you might win a copy!) and join us at 5:00 pm on June 2nd at Shellie's Facebook page. And tell your friends - she's giving away copies of her books and some great gift certificates.

The Royal Wedding DVD Review!

 ~The Royal Wedding~

The wedding of Great Britain's Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton dazzled the world in April 2011, and this BBC documentary, The Royal Wedding, is a must-have for all royal fans. Those who watched the long coverage on American TV will appreciate the care with which the BBC has edited the processionals to a very crisply moving hour-plus, covering all of the pomp and magic of the fairy-tale day. Even the most ardent anglophile, who's already gasped in admiration of the lovely Kate and her charming prince, will find The Royal Wedding the perfect remembrance of that day. It's all here~ from the sea of hats to the two kisses from the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the adoring crowds to see. The wedding ceremony itself is also quite lovely, with choirs who'd rehearsed for months, and a sermon of simplicity and depth for the solemn state occasion.

I tried to stay up to watch the Royal Wedding live but I didn't make it.Of course,I saw it later on TV. But now that I have this DVD to watch over and over anytime that I want. Kate Middleton in her beautiful long-sleeved Alexander McQueen gown is just beautiful~She truly does look like a Princess! And William in his military uniform looks so handsome. I am sure that this is going to be a keepsake for years to come. Most of my grandchildren are too young to have watched this on TV~so I will be sharing this with them as they come over to visit. As all little girls want to be a princess~and in the Royal Wedding they can see a real one. After the ceremony, William and Kate, newly christened the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, wave to adoring crowds and look genuinely happy.

You can purchase the DVD here

Childrens Hospital Season 1 and 2 on DVD Now!

"Childrens Hospital: The Complete First & Second Seasons"

 On Sale Now!

The staff of Childrens Hospital is dedicated, relentless and committed to everything but treating patients. The series began on the web on TheWB.com with ten episodes, roughly five minutes in length, all of which premiered on December 8, 2008.Adult Swim picked up the rights to the show in 2009 and began airing episodes in 2010. No medical condition is too severe to distract these oblivious physicians from their primal need to flirt, gossip, make out, talk about sex, show their underwear and more.

In one of the Hospital moments~
Dr. Owen Maestro’s ex~girlfriend lied by telling him she had a tumor just to break up with him. Now~something tells me that she really wanted to get away from him! As I know I have head some lame excuses in my day~but that sure is a good one..

I have put together a list of excuses I have heard for break ups~

"I'm confused.  I don't feel the same way about you the way you feel about me.  Do you think we can still be friends?"

I'm being sent out of the country on a top secret mission and I will not be able to contact you for 5 years.

You're too nice. I don't deserve someone who's nice.

You mean more to me than life itself -- but I'm suicidal.

What is the craziest excuse you have used or heard to break up with someone?!? I'd love to hear them!!

Five Summer Getaways Every Kid Should Experience #GreatGetaways

It's Summer!!

Well~not quite but it is sure close! And with Summer~means that the kids are soon going to be out of school and looking for something to do. It used to be that everyone was thinking about going on vacation but with the economy the way that it is~I think that more people are going to be looking for things to do closer to home! So~I have thought of "Stay~Vacation" Experiences~

Here are my Five Summer Getaways Every Kid Should Experience~

1~The State Fair~ There is just so many things to do and see.It is a great way for the kids to not only see all the different animals but see and learn about our state.the Midway has something fro everyone. Not to mention the food~as I went last year with my daughter an the grandchildren and I think that we ate enough food there to last us until next year! But everything was so good and you knew that you had to sample it.

2~The Library~Not only are there books to be read. But if you look at their papers they have many story times for the kids all summer. They can play on the computers~so no more fighting over one. They also can get some great DVD's to watch at home on those rainy days!

3~Go to the Museum~There are so many things to see here..And I love that there are hands on experience on most of the displays. As it really gives the kids a chance to try different things. They can learn about all the different cultures and see how they really lived "way back then".

4~Visit Family and Friends~
I know I am guilty of not going to see my family that lives less then a hour away from us.But this Summer we are all going to make it a "Must" do for us.As it is silly not to see loved ones that live so close by. It only costs a tank of gas{if even} and think of the free fun you can have on the road.As there are many travel games to play~like how many different license plates they see in 10 minutes. And~when we plan ahead we might even have a BBQ!

5~Go To The Beach~
It is so much fun~as the water is always inviting and the sand is warm. Who doesn't love to build sand castles and then watch the water wash them away later?!? Pack a lunch and some beverages in a cooler and you can make a day out of it!
