With the summer driving season,many of you will be taking road trips and one thing that you don't want to forget is to change your oil. MOM wants to remind us to be in the know when it comes to motor oil changes.

 About MOM~

Motor Oil Matters, or MOM, a new consumer education and industry watchdog program by the American Petroleum Institute, has been established to stress the benefits of quality licensed motor oils and call on to the carpet those who engage in deceptive practices.


Service-locators can be quick to offer discounted services to people who are looking to reduce their automotive maintenance costs.  Make sure your service provider is pouring quality motor oil into your car before you decide on a cheaper deal.


AAA expects between the major summer holidays of Memorial Day and Labor Day to aid over eight million motorists, and cautions drivers that auto maintenance is key to avoiding summertime travel breakdowns. Ensuring quality motor oil in your car is one way to prevent road trip problems.


I was just talking about getting my oil changed right before I heard of MOM's. If you are anything like me,you are not too sure what to ask when you take your car in. I was so happy to see that MOM has a checklist that I can  take with me so I know what questions to ask.

    I would be using it and since my son-in-law no longer works on any of the vehicles like he use to here, we are needing to take ours in because it has been about 5 months for me since I had an oil change.

    Using the right oil does make a difference. We always spend a little more money to get a better oil put into our cars.

    We got to experience the difference also when the wrong oil was put in, not our usual, but the dealer's brand. We went from Iowa to South Carolina for our son's army basic graduation. During that time our gas mileage was not what we were expecting it to be....lower. Once we got back home I took the car back into the dealer, and had them change the oil, and put in what we use. I explained to him they put the wrong oil in...which they did this change for free.

    The car likes me again, and the fuel mileage got better too. Sometimes spending a little bit more for some things can be better.
