~Are You Ready For Some Football???~
I like to try new recipes and Del Monte has two new varieties of tomatoes to help me out!
Del Monte Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies
and
Del Monte Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes with Chipotle Chilies
I don't know about you but we like a little kick in our foods and the new Del Monte Southwestern-Style Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes are the perfect way to spice up main dishes and snacking recipes!!
I have came up with a recipe that is real easy to make and tastes great!
~Taco Rice Bowls~
Ingredients~
- 1 1/2 Pounds of Hamburger
- 1/4 Cup Chopped Onion
- 1/4 Cup Green Pepper
- Fresh Garlic{to your taste}
- Fresh Cilantro{to your taste}
- 2 Cups of Rice{Cooked}
- 1 Can Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies
- 1 Can Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes with Chipotle Chilies
- Flour Tortillas
Directions~
- Fry hamburger with onion,green pepper and spices. Drain well.
- Make your rice,as we are going to add this to the hamburger.
- Add everything together in a big fry pan and keep on low~stirring often so it does not stick.{I added just a small amount of water too.}
While that is simmering we are going to make our Taco Shells. I just took some flour tortillas and put them in the microwave for a few minutes to soften them up. I applied some cooking over,very lightly on one side. Then I got out a old muffin tin to bake the tortillas into the shells. I know it sounds crazy~but it really works!
To Form Bowls~
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Lightly oil the cooked flour tortillas on one side. Form each tortilla into a loose bowl shape and tuck between cups of an upside down muffin tin. Press tortilla down in the middle so shell will have a flat bottom to sit on. Bake in oven for 8-10 minutes. The shells should be golden brown and crispy all over~but watch them so they don't burn.
These are so easy to make and are cheaper then the ones that you buy in the store. I think that they taste better too.
The end results is that the whole family loved them! I am sure that the Del Monte tomatoes really made the difference,as the spices and peppers were Perfect! The majority of Del Monte products are picked at the peak of ripeness and canned on the same day, to ensure nutrients and flavor are locked in.
