Pretty Neat Book Review & Giveaway! 3/19 *CLOSED*

Pretty Neat Get Organized & Let Go of Perfection

It is no secret that I have a habit of holding on to things for one reason or another. I am not the most organized person that you will ever meet. Not that I am a slob~as I know how to pack things and hide like you would not believe! But over the last 3 months I have started to really make up my mind to get this house in order.Last week I even started going thru my Mom's things and gave 5 bags to the Epilepsy Society when they had a local pickup! I have decided that my Mom will live on in my heart and I don't need "things" to remind me of her.I will still keep things that were special to me but will continue to go thru not only her things but mine as well.Come Spring I am even planning to have a Garage Sale to buy paint to make the whole house brighter!

I was recently given the opportunity to review  the book~Pretty Neat. Pretty Neat was written by Alicia Rockmore and Sarah Welch, who also happen to be the brilliant minds behind  Buttoned Up! – a line of great products designed to help the organizationally challenged.
It is a handbook that embraces the chaotic reality that lies beneath org porn’s glossy veneer, offering pithy anecdotes and candid advice from experts and real women alike on tackling organizational inertia. Funny, irreverent, entertaining, and helpful, the book covers all facets of clutter-control, from tried-and-true tips for conquering to-do lists and wrangling family schedules to ideas on excavating inboxes, eliminating excuses, and delegating housework. Most importantly, Pretty Neat insists that women need to stop holding themselves to impossibly high standards, and focus instead on defining their own, realistic organizational goals. Full of engaging examples from everyday women, Pretty Neat offers readers unorthodox, surprisingly simple methods to reduce their org porn–fueled stress, insisting that perfection is impossible — and unnecessary — in this messy, unpredictable world called real life.

I have some great news as one of my readers is going to win a copy of Pretty Neat for their very own!!

  1. My kids. I spend my day with my 3 yo then when my 1st grader gets home he fights the little one for my attention. By the time the day is over I don't have the energy to straighten out and go through stuff that I just keep boxing up & moving.

  5. My kitchen counters are a big source of stress. For some reason, I feel the need to have every appliance and gadget owned out in plain sight whether or not I will ever use it!

Here's my funny hide the clutter story: I had about 4 big boxes of clutter & papers that needed to be organized. With company on the way, I piled the boxes on top of each other, covered them with an old quilt top & put a lamp on top so that it looked like a table. :o) Laugh if you will, but it worked...

  48. My biggest organizational challenge is my sweetie's hobby of restoring vintage collectibles. There is no dedicated space or storage for the items-to-be-restored, the finished items or the restoration supplies. It all just kind of spreads itself out infinitely everywhere...kind of like tribbles.

PAAS Easter Egg Dye and Heinz Vinegar Review

Easter is early this year,so we decided to dye eggs last night. You know that the Easter Bunny has got to get the baskets ready so we need to help with the coloring.{So~I am told by my grandson} We were super excited as this year we were sent some new PAAS Easter egg dyes to try.       This year, PAAS has seven new egg decorating kits, including Volcano Eggsplosion, a kit that uses melted crayon shavings to provide instant color and Touch of Velvet, a kit that uses double stick adhesives and flocking powder to create fun, fuzzy shapes on your Easter creations! For the brightest, most vivid colors, add one tablet and three tablespoons of Heinz Distilled White Vinegar to a PAAS Color Cup or a one-cup container. Once the tablet has dissolved, add ½ cup water and stir gently.      According to the PAAS  more than 180 million eggs a year are dyed with PAAS dye!   Also, to help keep hard-cooked eggs from cracking, add two tablespoons of Heinz Distilled W

Summer is in full swing~so chances are you are spending more time outdoors. Not only should you apply sunscreen but also make sure that your lips are protected. As there is nothing worse then dry~cracked lips. I have been using Carmex for as long as I can remember. I was so excited to see a package arrive from them! Carmex has a new flavor~Pomegranate. This new scent is awesome~I love it! Not too sweet and it makes my lips feel so smooth just like the others! Along with the Pomegranate flavor, they also sent me all their other flavors that I already use~lime twist~ cherry~original~vanilla and strawberry. Each Carmex lip balm has a SPF of 15 to protect your lips from the effects of the summer sun. So~you can wear these without having to worry about the bad rays! The Beach Bag that was sent it also very nice! It is a thick canvas and has the rope handles. There is also a little bag inside that zippers to keep your keys, loose change ect..I am loving this bag~it
