I was at CVS yesterday and there were signs all over to remind everyone to get their Flu Shots. As with the seasons changing we all know that means the Flu is right around the corner. I am getting my flu shot next week at my doctor's office and hope that you are planning to get one too.Everyone 6 months of age and older is recommended to be vaccinated against the flu.
If you or your children don't like shots they also flu vaccine is also available in mist form!
The flu season usually begins when cold weather appears. Why? There’s no apparent reason. It’s simply a characteristic of the flu and the timing of the seasons.
Here are some steps which can be taken to reduce the risk of contracting the flu virus~
1. Keep your distance from and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
2. If you are sick, stay at home and keep your distance from other people to prevent spreading the 'flu virus.
3. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue and turn your head away from other people when you cough or sneeze.
4. Wash your hands often to protect yourself from germs.
5. Avoid touching your nose, eyes and mouth.
6. To keep your immune system healthy, get enough sleep, eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, exercise regularly, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and keep stress levels to the minimum.
“If you’re old enough to ask, you should get the flu shot.”
